Organic Spinach and Feta Pizza at Costco---a great deal!

When these pizzas first hit Costco's frozen food aisle, they were over NT$300/ box. Last weekend, I saw that the price had dropped to NT$197/ box. And there are 3 pizzas in each box! That's a steal, and for a frozen pizza, this one isn't bad! It's pretty good, actually.

I took a picture of the finished product. Just pop it in the oven and you're good to go in about 25 minutes.

FYI...if you're into Oreos, there's a new strawberry cream version at Carrefour. I guess you could dunk this into strawberry milk for a berry delicious dessert.

Clorox wipes at Carrefour

I've actually brought these things back with me from the States for the last 5 years, and now I can find them at Jason's and at Carrefour. But the Clorox wipes at Carrefour are half the price as those in Jason's Marketplace. Right now, one big bottle is on sale for NT$119. These things are great for wiping down countertops. They supposedly kill the germs immediately.

The best deal in town for cake mixes

Right now Costco is selling 4 cake mixes for NT$200. That's a great deal, considering ONE cake mix is over NT$100 in a lot of stores in Tianmu. So get 'em while they're hot!

More cool stuff at Carrefour...including great gift ideas!

For a limited time only (I think), Carrefour is selling the Taiwan edition of Monopoly. This is a great gift idea for anyone who has ever lived in Taiwan. I looked into buying this online a couple of years ago, and it was over $30 (U.S.) at that time. But you can buy it at Carrefour for about NT$700.

I think I'll be buying a few of these for Christmas gifts!

You can also find some fun Play-Doh sets that will probably sell out rather quickly.

Another cool item is the fabric softener sheets, which I've only seen so far at Costco or import stores. The Gain sheets are about NT$100/ box. And they smell good.

Anyone want an Indiana Jones Mr. Potato Head? This is also a fun gift!

And last but not least, you can buy sweet-smelling Bodycology lotions and bath gels for a great price.

Hurry and get to Carrefour before the "American" sale ends!

Many of the products that are at the DaZhi Carrefour are located on the THIRD floor, not the second floor. You can find everything from honey mustard pretzels to dark chocolate Hershey's kisses to chocolate-drizzled marshmallows. And everything is on sale.

You can find several kinds of pancake syrup, including the "lite" version, which has less calories per serving.

And O Organics tortilla chips are on sale for NT$95/ bag.

You can also find some "Eating Right" products including soups, canned fruit, and breakfast bars.

And finally, nothing says "American" like Hamburger Helper!

Another "American" sale at Mitsukoshi

The grocery store in the bottom of the Mitsukoshi building is also having a sale on American products. Most of the products worth mentioning are "beauty" products...like shampoos, soaps, toothpastes, etc. I found some vanilla-flavored Crest toothpaste that's quite yummy, as far as toothpaste goes! And it was fairly cheap, too.

O Organics and "American food" sale at Carrefour

In honor of American's Independence Day, Carrefour is having some sales on their imported foods. They've stocked more O Organics foods now, especially in the frozen foods aisle.

A couple of products that stood out to me were the plain instant oatmeal and the maple syrup. But you can also find three-cheese lasagna, enchiladas, etc.

They also carry Safeway Waffles---Plain and Blueberry. One box is about NT$90.

Great products at Jason's Marketplace

I'm not sure if these wraps are a new product, but they're worth mentioning. The cheapest tortilla wraps are the bulk ones at Costco, made by Florida Bakery, but these wraps will give you a little variety for an extra NT$60 or so.

Diego's makes an Omega-3 wrap and a reduced carb wrap.

Also, Jason's is selling LARABARS, which are the best-tasting all-natural bar out there. Unfortunately, they're NT$80/ bar, which is far too much for me. But one good thing about Jason's is that they often drastically reduce the price of food that is going to "expire," and I often buy their bars for NT$20 each when they need to get rid of them. For example, I bought a bunch of organic apricot-oat bars today for NT$19/ each. (normally over NT$80/ bar)

Also, Jason's is selling Redi-Whip for NT$69/ box. (each box contains 3 packets of whipped cream powder...definitely a great deal, as it's usually almost NT$300/ box). Redi-Whip is so easy to use...just add cold water, and you have whipped cream!

Peanut butter and discounted string cheese at Costco

Costco is definitely the best place to buy peanut butter. You get more bang for your buck, that's for sure. They have been selling the Kirkland all-natural peanut butter for awhile, and it's the best I've tasted so far. Plus, you can get two huge jars for less than NT$300. At Jason's, you pay the same amount for one regular-sized jar.

Also, a new variety was on the shelf at the Shihjr store recently---JIF! Now you can also buy two huge jars of Jif for less than NT$300! And it's the extra crunchy kind...mmmm....

I also found some great deals on foods that will be "expiring" in a week or so. I got NT$400 string cheese packs for NT$99. And a HUGE tub of sour cream for NT$99! I have a week to use it, but that's still a fantastic price.

Chips and Chocolate at Carrefour

New product alert---Boulder Canyon potato chips. There are a couple of varietites of these "natural" chips.

Finally, Carrefour is stocking some great American candy---including dark chocolate Kissables, which are truly a treat if you enjoy dark chocolate. Only NT$119/ bag! Get 'em before they're gone.

You can also buy a jumbo Special Dark candybar for only NT$52.

New products at the Shihjr Costco

I love the Shihjr Costco. I am convinced that they have a better selection of products than the Neihu Costco. And they've introduced some new ones recently...including...
Nature Valley Fruit Twists---which look like a grown-up fruit roll-up to me.

Icee Squeeze Tubes

Luigi's Sherbet

Several varieties of Weis ice cream. (An Australian brand...GOOD STUFF)

The best dark chocolate and pomegranate ice cream bar on the planet.

Large bags of protein shake mix in both vanilla and chocolate flavors. We tried the vanilla, and it's good stuff...mix in a few frozen blueberries, and you have a low-calorie, high-protein blueberry shake.

And taco shells! No more driving to Tianmu and hoping that they're not stale inside the box. At Costco, you can get a big box of 48 taco shells, packaged in four different bags. They last well in the freezer.

Cans of cherry coke at 7-11

I was just given the tip that cans of Cherry Coke can be purchased in 7-11 convenience stores. I guess they want to compete with FamiMart, which is stocking the bottles. I haven't seen this kind of soda in other convenience stores yet. Let's hope it will stick around for awhile!

Fromage Frais and more good chocolate at Carrefour

I like how Carrefour continues to offer new products in its stores. The only problem is that some of these products are quite short-lived, so you need to buy them when you can. I tried the "Fromage Frais" this week without knowing what it was. Later, I learned that this is a kind of low-fat cheese (this variety is fat-free) with the consistency of yogurt. It's also known as quark. Alone, it's not too tasty, but with a little fruit or sweetener, it's a yummy source of protein. And it works great in smoothies or as a substitute for ricotta cheese in lasagna. I've also read that you can use it in cheesecakes. A tub of Fromage Frais is about NT$225, I think.

Carrefour also sells the Audrey Omega-3 enriched candybars (NT$55/ bar), which I've blogged about before. They have more varieties than Watsons; I recently purchased a dark chocolate bar with mango chips. Mmmmmm.....

Light yogurt at Carrefour

This just in---light, sugar-free yogurt at the DaZhi Carrefour, in several different flavors like pineapple, peach, plain, and prune.

Each container is around NT$30...and they're quite tasty! I guess they contain some sort of sugar substitute, but for people watching their sugar intake, this kind of yogurt is a great find!

Pomelo-flavored Sprite at Family Mart

For some reason Family Mart convenience stores often introduce new products before other convenience stores. I haven't seen Pomelo-flavored Sprite anywhere else. Even if you don't drink soda often, give this a try because it does have a unique pomelo aftertaste! (too bad it isn't as healthy as a real pomelo)
